We’re home!!!!

Like Never Before

Our adventure at the hospital ends today. We will be discharged in a few hours and taking baby Astrid home for the first time.

I’m sitting here eating some cold oatmeal from the cafeteria watching my two beautiful girls sleep and I’ve never been more content in my life.

After all Carita and I have been through trying to have a baby and the massive ups and downs this year…the elation finally hearing the news we will actually be parents and the horrible heartbreak losing my dad just a few months before she was born. It’s been an eventful year, that’s for sure.

I miss my Dad horribly and would have given anything to have him be able to see her, touch her, hold her. But I know he wouldn’t want me to fuss over that for too long. He supported us moving to Charlotte knowing he was sick and told me not to worry. He was proud of us and our new life together even if it meant us being so far apart. I’m grateful he was able to see Carita pregnant with her beautiful baby belly and feel Astrid kicking and fidgeting.

She will know the love he had for her. I will make it my every day mission to tell her how much she is loved by not only her Momma and Daddy but also her Grandpa that gave her the soft little teddy bear she will always have with her.
